Woodworking Shop Safety: Scroll down through the information below, watching the videos and reading the information. At the end, make sure you can answer the questions in preparation for the safety test tomorrow.
Make sure you remember how to read a tape measure to the 1/8" increment. Study this diagram, then quiz yourself on a scratch piece of paper. Ask your neighbor to grade it for you. (You don't have to memorize to the 1/16", but it's ok to be a superstar and learn it anyway.) It's important to measure your projects and re-measure your projects in order to not waste any material. We call this the "measure twice, cut once" principal.
Long hair and Jewelry in the shop are both hazards when using turning tools. They can get caught up in drills, drill presses and any saws. To ensure your safety take off all jewelry and tie long hair back.
Shoes worn in the shop must be closed toes, closed heels shoes. This is means to protect the feet from sharp objects and heavy blows.
