Woodworking Shop Safety Unit
Safety is of the utmost importance. To work in the ag shop, students must complete all safety training and pass required tests with 100%. For each of the following tools, you should read through the safety specifications, watch the instructional video and then take the online safety test. You may only take each test 3 times. Study the information ahead of time - be a responsible learner.
There are some basic shop safety principles you probably already know. To work in the shop, students must be wearing three things:
Safety Glasses: You need to protect your eyes! They are to be worn under welding helmets, during all project work to protect your eyes from accidents others may have as well as dust, slag and other objects.
Appropriate Footwear: Shoes or boots should cover your whole foot and be made of a material that isn't flammable (leather, heavy plastic or rubber).
Appropriate Clothing: In welding, you need all skin covered with coveralls or heavy work shirts. FR rated fabric is ideal, but not mandatory.
Read through the following GENERAL SAFETY guidelines handout in class before following the link to take the general safety quiz.
